T-Mobile SIM unlocking the Nokia Lumia 810 and does it have LTE?

There are some interesting discussions going in our forums on the T-Mobile Lumia 810 (come across our unboxing), which shows the telephone is gaining some basis with customers.

Get-go up is getting the phone carrier-unlocked. Sure, you may have to renew that contract (if non buying total price) but for those of you who want that freedom to have your phone anywhere, T-Mobile is obviously playing off-white...

We at present have a few reports of people successfully contacting T-Mobile to SIM unlock their phones and afterward a 24-hour expect period, they are beingness granted. T-Mobile may not accept the codes on hand merely after they contact Nokia, they should become back to you in a reasonable fourth dimension frame.

That'southward of class more than we tin about AT&T, who seem to be a picayune more stingy on giving out those codes. Have you had success getting unlock codes for your T-Mobile 810? Caput to our forum to share your feel and tips.

Update: Although things aren't all rosy. The dreaded APN settings issue appear to be a problem. For more than info on that head to our forum discussion.

Does the Lumia 810 take LTE on board?

The T-Mobile Lumia 810 but has support for T-Mo'south HSPA+ bands, at to the lowest degree officially speaking (from Nokia specs and FCC filings).  But some clever folks have dug into the service menu (dial pad, ##3282#) and noticed it has settings in at that place for LTE (Bands 2,4,five and 17).

So the question is, does the 810 accept LTE but information technology's just not enabled or are those merely standard Nokia menus?

Forum fellow member TexasLabRat shows why at that place may be some truth to this but why there may besides be a problem with it likewise. As noted above, the 810 did not have any LTE bands tested on it when information technology went through the FCC. That means if it is there, it cannot exist used unless an updated submission request is presented to the FCC.

And aye, that sounds a lot like the Nexus 4 "does it take LTE or not" fiasco.

T-Mobile is planning on rolling out LTE in the future and presumably they could unlock this feature every bit the hardware most likely does support it (it has the same chipset as every other Windows Phone viii device). Just it's not articulate that T-Mobile will do this assuming it is even technically feasible (something for which nosotros're not 100% certain well-nigh).

For now though, we would certainly non buy the Nokia Lumia 810 with any hope of it being upgraded in the future. Carriers accept been reluctant to requite out new features on old phones in the past and would probably rather you just purchase a new device. Maybe T-Mobile volition be different or may exist information technology's just not possible. For now, we would not put too much stock in it.

Look for our total Lumia 810 review in the coming days.
